Car Insurance GMC (Car Insurance). My 02 infinity qx4 has SES of code p1456 evap small leak detected. could this b a bad ground in the sensor? My 02 infinity qx4 has SES of code p1456 evap small leak detected. could this b a bad ground in the sensor? I say that because it turns on and off periodically. A couple hundred miles the ses light turns on and for a couple hundred it turns off. My nissan dealer says i need to replace the control valve and entired evap canister. I want to call bullsh*t and say ur robbing me of money. How do i check to see if its a faulty wire? Im sorry im not car literate so please explain carefully. Thank you not likely to be a bad sensor. Most likely the the mechanic is telling you what the code in the book recommends. However the mechanic is not telling you that it could be a vacuum leak in a Small hose going to the evap canister. I would try a new gas cap or gas cap gasket. Once you replace it disconnect the battery a few minutes to clear the code. You will have to reset your radio and clock when you do this so if it needs a pass key be sure that you have it before disconnecting the battery. This is the cheapest fix that I know that might work. The next would be to check all the vacuum lines going to or coming out of your canister. The control valve could be bad but I agree with you and don't think that canisters develop leaks without being smacked around very often either. Hey, Thank you for giving me that tip on my dog, i killed her by stabbing her, and burried here in my backyard, the police are blaming the vet for lying about me when i reported him! thank you! GMC . Automotive Battery Charging InstructionsEven under normal operating conditions there is a slight danger of your car battery exploding. Batteries generate hydrogen gas, which is combustible, and people have been hit by battery parts or splattering acid during an explosion. The odds are very slight, to be sure, and this is not meant to frighten but rather to educate the layperson about how to safely undertake the task of charging your automobile's battery. Precautions Use common sense to prevent an accident while working your car battery charger. Wear protective goggles that cover your eyes from every angle. Don't bring open flames or sparks anywhere near the battery and charger. This means cigarettes, matches or lighters. Another tip is to remove the battery plate on top and fill up the cells with water before charging. This helps purge any hydrogen gas that might be lurking. A final piece of safety advice is to make all the connections before you plug the charger into the wall outlet. Under the Hood Turn the battery charger switch to "off" and unplug it. Check the posts on the battery to make absolutely certain you know which is positive (red in color or marked with a "+" sign) and which is negative (black in color or marked with a "-" sign). The following steps assume your car has a negative ground, which most do. If, for some reason, you suspect yours does not, have a mechanic look at it to make sure. Some newer cars have a remote positive post for charging located away from the battery. Use that if you have it, but regardless, the first step is to connect the red (positive) clamp from the battery charger to the red post on the battery. Connect the black clamp from the charger to the engine block or part of the car's metal frame. Set the voltage switch on the battery's type--either 6 or 12 volts. Some chargers have a timer, which you can now set. Plug the cord into a grounded outlet. Don't touch the charger clips while the charger is plugged in and charging. There should be an ammeter gauge on the unit that indicates the process is underway. After the battery has been charged, unplug the cord, turn the switch off, and disconnect the clamp wires from the car frame first, then the positive post. Outside Charging The procedure for charging a battery outside a vehicle is practically the same, except you won't be using a car frame for the negative clamp attachment. With the charger set to "off" and unplugged, first attach the red clamp to the positive battery post, then the black clamp to the negative battery post. After charging is complete, follow the previous instructions for unplugging and disconnecting the charger from the battery.
GMC . How to Charge an SLA BatterySealed Lead Acid (SLA) batteries are a kind of rechargeable battery used where there is either a need for a low-voltage discharge or the system provides for a low-voltage charge from the battery. Their design allows for them to receive a charge but not to get so hot during the process that gasses develop within the body of the battery. SLA batteries range in volts from two to 24 and can be found in everything from cars to camcorders and laptops to boats. Recharging a SLA battery is an easy process with the right equipment. Be sure you have a slow (or trickle) battery charger that has a range of voltage choices that match your battery type. Difficulty:Moderately Easy Instructions Things You'll Need Battery terminal brush Slow battery charger Step by Step : 1 Disconnect the battery from any cables and remove it from the battery compartment. Large batteries (such as those found in cars and boats) may be left in the engine compartment as long as both the positive and negative cables are removed from the battery and placed in such a way that there is no risk of them falling and touching the battery while it charges. 2 Clean the terminals with a battery terminal brush. The brush is a cylinder with wire bristles on the inside, surrounding a hollow core. Place the cylinder over the terminals and twist the brush several times to remove any corrosion. 3 Connect the battery charger to the SLA battery. It is an industry standard that the negative cable will be black and the positive cable will either be red or black with a white stripe. Attach the appropriate cable to its corresponding terminal (black to the negative terminal and the positive cable to the positive terminal). Do not plug in the charger. 4 Set your battery charger to the correct voltage. On the front face of the charger there is a dial or switch to set the voltage of the charger to match the voltage of your SLA battery (12v to 12v, 2v to 2v). Some battery chargers will have a switch that will allow you to choose between a "Quick" charge and a "Slow" charge, select the "Slow" charge. 5 Plug the charger in to a power source. Wait five minutes and then read the battery-charge gauge on the front of your battery charger. This will show you the actual level of charge left in your battery, but it will take the five minutes for the charger to provide an accurate reading. If your battery charge level is below 50 percent but above 24 percent, check the battery level every hour. If the level is below 25 percent, check the battery level again in two hours. If it is above 50 percent check the level every 15 minutes. In this last case, you should stay nearby to ensure the battery does not overcharge, Tips & Warnings Check the battery charger's manual or packaging. Some of the higher end models include a special sensor that will shut the battery charger off when the battery charge level hits 100 percent. If you have this kind of charger you can connect the charger and come back when it is convenient to you as there is no worry about it overcharging. Batteries that are discharging too quickly may indicate the presence of a bad or worn battery or, a problem in the actual charging system of the engine. If your battery needs to be regularly recharged and it shouldn't, have your engine's charging system tested as well as the battery. Faulty batteries or charging systems can create hazardous conditions through overheating or battery failure that may leave you stranded. *Spring Cup Cup Piston expander The brake fluid that's forced through the brake lines by the piston in the master cylinder goes into the wheel cylinders. The brake shoes are attached to a set of springs that draw them back into place when you take your foot off the brake pedal. Chapter 18 provides tips on getting the best deal if your brake shoes have to be replaced. Brake linings Either bonded or riveted to the brake shoes are curved brake linings of tough, very heat-resistant material. As you can see in Figure 10-6, when the brake shoes are forced against the insides of the brake drum, the linings create friction, which causes the brake drum to stop turning. This in turn forces the wheels to stop turning, which stops the car. The brake linings on the front wheel brakes have a larger surface than those GMC . Where is the oil pressure sensor located on a 6.6 litre?
Kia Sephia. * on the rear wheels because the front wheels bear most of the pressure of stopping — the weight shifts from the rear to the front when you brake. However, on each set of brake linings, on any given wheel, the lining toward the rear of the car is larger and often is a different color. You should check your brake linings for wear every 10,000 to 20,000 miles. Chapter 18 shows you how. Adjusting devices At the bottom of the brake backing plate is either a manual adjusting wheel or a self-adjusting device. These are used to adjust the distance between the surface of the brake lining and the inside of the brake drum when you step on the brake pedal. As your brake linings become worn, the distance increases, and this adjustment compensates for that. If you didn't have this gadget and your linings became very worn, eventually the brake shoes wouldn't reach the inside of the drum and your car wouldn't stop. You can get a close look at various types of adjusting devices in Chapter 18. .Chapter 10: It's the Brakes! 1R7 Oisc Brakes Disc brakes are composed of a flat steel disc — you knew that, right? — sand GMC . Between the disc (sometimes called a rotor) and the pistons are brake pads, which operate in the same way that brake shoes do: They grab the disc with their rough friction linings and force the disc to stop turning, which in turn forces the wheel to stop turning and the car to stop moving. The effect is the same as on a bicycle when the brakes grab the wheel directly to stop it from turning. Chapter 18 tells you how to inspect and troubleshoot disc brakes.
